My first triathlon attempt was a failure. My bike wasn’t ready from the shop so I bought Jill from a mountain bike from Wal-mart.  Luckily for me, Doug Y., from Runners Edge, was there to help me.  I was also very lucky to have a cheerleader, Jill was there and brought the puppies.

  1. Don’t ride a bike that is too small for you
  2. Don’t put your helmet on before your shirt
  3. Don’t eat McDonald’s before the race
  4. Don’t show up late
  5. Don’t (graduation) party seven days before the race and take the week to recover instead of train

I was really happy with the swim portion.  I actually came out of the water in front of people which I honestly didn’t expect.  I went into the race just wanting to finish.  So getting on a bike that was too small for me wasn’t that big of a deal.  I knew I could finish.  About half way into the race, I got a flat tire.  Instead of walking the rest of the route, I turned around.
